Quick curing, non-sagging, and significantly
improves construction quality. Polyurea often
and irregularly experiences issues such as
pinholes, sagging,incomplete curing, bubbling,
and peeling, leading to material and construction
quality instability. This stands in stark contrast to
the overall stable quality of BayBrane®.
Penetrating, moisture-reactive primer with minimal
thickness on concrete surfaces. The primer for
polyurea is epoxy resin, which has a thicker film.
The biggest difference is the drying and spray time.
✓ Penetrating, moisture-reactive primer, with a
drying and spray time of approximately 45 minutes
(subject to slight variation based on ambient humidity).
✓ Epoxy resin primer has a drying and spray time of
approximately 3 hours, making it impossible to spray
the waterproof layer on the same day.
✓ Significantly enhances construction efficiency.
Determining whether to proceed based on
surface pull-off strength testing and envi-
ronmental testing.
The protective applications for bridges and tunnels have been practically tested in harsh environments for over 50 years globally. Hydroseal Enterprise Co., Ltd. officially introduced it to Taiwan in 1999, applying it to waterproof sun-facing areas of buildings (roofs, terraces, and atriums).
BayBrane® is a high-grade elastomer without any additives. Its superior material performance has been proven through various independent tests under different temperatures, demonstrating its ability to withstand different weather conditions!
1. BayBrane® Hydroseal: Is a reactive, dual-component polyurethane material. Due to its rapid hardening, it lacks the chance to level out when sprayed on the ground, resulting in an “orange skin” texture on the surface.
2. Hydroflex® Primer: Is a single-component, moisture-curing polyurethane material that can be applied with a brush or roller or through spraying. It can penetrate the pores of the concrete to a depth of about 1-3mm, with hardening rate decreasing with higher relative humidity. In Taiwan’s climate, BayBrane® Hydroseal may be applied 30-45 minutes following the application of primer, at which its surface slightly sticks without stringiness.
3. Difference between BayBrane® polyurethane and hand-mixed polyurea:
| BayBrane® Polyurethane | Hand-mixed Polyurea | Machine-sprayed Polyurea | |
| Primer | Polyurethane | Epoxy resin | Epoxy resin |
| Application | Spray | Brush or roller | Spray |
| Mixing | Static or dynamic mixing | Water dam mixer | Airless mixing |
| Resulting Product | A waterproof film with an orange skin surface, even thickness, no pinholes, and no bubbles | Material containing a large number of air | Surface self-leveling, inconsistent thickness and appearance of pinholes |
1. The product passed the 100,000-cycle compression test without any deformation.
2. After three years following application at a bridge pier site, a sample taken at the application site and subjected to a 100,000-cycle compression test showed no signs of deformation.
3. After seven years of following application at a bridge pier site, tests were conducted on tensile strength, elongation, tear resistance, rebound rate, permanent compression deformation rate, and compression strength for the applied layer, whose results exceeded the standard values of the BayBrane®.
4. The product exhibits both elasticity and compressive strength. When the compression deformation reaches 50%, it can generate a compressive strength of 150kg/cm2, and its elasticity remains constant even after repeated compression.
