Quick curing, non-sagging, and significantly
improves construction quality. Polyurea often
and irregularly experiences issues such as
pinholes, sagging,incomplete curing, bubbling,
and peeling, leading to material and construction
quality instability. This stands in stark contrast to
the overall stable quality of BayBrane®.
Penetrating, moisture-reactive primer with minimal
thickness on concrete surfaces. The primer for
polyurea is epoxy resin, which has a thicker film.
The biggest difference is the drying and spray time.
✓ Penetrating, moisture-reactive primer, with a
drying and spray time of approximately 45 minutes
(subject to slight variation based on ambient humidity).
✓ Epoxy resin primer has a drying and spray time of
approximately 3 hours, making it impossible to spray
the waterproof layer on the same day.
✓ Significantly enhances construction efficiency.
Determining whether to proceed based on
surface pull-off strength testing and envi-
ronmental testing.
BayBrane® has over 50 years of proven performance in bridge and tunnel protection under harsh conditions.
Hydroseal Enterprise Co., Ltd. introduced BayBrane® to Taiwan in 1999 for rooftop, terrace, and atrium waterproofing, completing Taiwan’s first BayBrane® project in 2000.
In 2012, BayBrane® secured Singapore’s subsea tunnel Phase II against leaks. In 2014, it protected Singapore’s first eco-bridge deck from water and root intrusion. In 2019, it solved long-standing waterproofing and concrete issues at Fo Guang Shan’s main shrine. In 2020, it resolved persistent roof leaks at Google’s Taiwan data center.
Taiwan Hydroseal BayBrane® is an additive-free premium elastomer. Independent tests confirm its outstanding durability across extreme temperatures and weather conditions.
1. BayBrane® Hydroseal: Is a reactive, dual-component polyurethane material. Due to its rapid hardening, it lacks the chance to level out when sprayed on the ground, resulting in an “orange skin” texture on the surface.
2. Hydroflex® Primer: Is a single-component, moisture-curing polyurethane material that can be applied with a brush or roller or through spraying. It can penetrate the pores of the concrete to a depth of about 1-3mm, with hardening rate decreasing with higher relative humidity. In Taiwan’s climate, BayBrane® Hydroseal may be applied 30-45 minutes following the application of primer, at which its surface slightly sticks without stringiness.
3. Difference between BayBrane® polyurethane and hand-mixed polyurea:
| BayBrane® Polyurethane | Hand-mixed Polyurea | Machine-sprayed Polyurea | |
| Primer | Polyurethane | Epoxy resin | Epoxy resin |
| Application | Spray | Brush or roller | Spray |
| Mixing | Static or dynamic mixing | Water dam mixer | Airless mixing |
| Resulting Product | A waterproof film with an orange skin surface, even thickness, no pinholes, and no bubbles | Material containing a large number of air | Surface self-leveling, inconsistent thickness and appearance of pinholes |
1. Elasticity to resist cracking.
2. Sprayable on site, with strong adhesion and bonding.
3. Non-sagging and can be sprayed on vertical surfaces or underside of ceilings.
4. Touch-dry within 3 minutes.
5. Resistant to long-term water immersion.
6. No pinholes when sprayed on concrete surfaces.
7. Durable for over 40 years.

BayBrane® is a reactive two-component polyurethane spray-applied waterproofing system.
Using specialized equipment, the material is sprayed on-site at a fixed ratio to create a uniform and seamless waterproofing membrane.
The system offers rapid curing, strong adhesion, and high elasticity, making it suitable for roofs, terraces, and large building structures.
BayBrane® has been used in international construction projects for over 40 years, with more than 20 years of application experience in Taiwan.
BayBrane® and polyurea waterproofing systems differ in material structure and application characteristics.
BayBrane® is a polyurethane-based material that provides excellent flexibility and adhesion.
Polyurea materials tend to form a structure closer to rigid plastic after curing, resulting in relatively lower flexibility.
Based on long-term construction experience, BayBrane® is also less prone to bubbles or blistering after spraying, resulting in more stable application quality.
The BayBrane® waterproofing system is designed for long-term durability.
International projects have accumulated over 40 years of service experience, while in Taiwan the system has been applied for more than 20 years.
Actual service life may vary depending on building conditions, installation quality, and maintenance.
The BayBrane® waterproofing system requires specialized spray equipment and must be installed by trained and certified contractors.
Therefore, it is not suitable for DIY installation.
All BayBrane® projects are provided as a complete system with professional installation, carried out by qualified construction teams.
BayBrane® waterproofing systems are commonly used in:
Roof waterproofing
Terrace waterproofing
Courtyard waterproofing
Large-scale building waterproofing projects
Public infrastructure and specialized construction waterproofing
